The Burger Makers

Here is the greatest burger-making team in western Canada -- maybe the world!

Duties in order on the picture:
- Flavours and mixing
- Bread crumbs
- Whole wheat buns

And here is the finished product.

We ate well while my parents were here. Now that they gone, things are more back to normal (clean out the fridge, leftovers).

Memory Lane

We went to Morden for a day trip down memory lane.

Gasthaus Gutenberger

Phyllis's family was in Winnipeg for a gathering and we all went out for supper at a German restaurant. There was even live accordion music. It was great to be together. Somehow Erik gets double billing here, but we're missing Byron so there would be nine people if he had come.

A cutie

Everett has started posing for pictures. Adorable.

Celebrating an 80th birthday

We celebrated Tante Liesel's birthday with an outdoor Sunday afternoon meal. We used our best china and crystal dishes.

In honour of Uncle Vic, we also had a course of watermelon and rollkuchen.
Despite the look of it, a good time was had by all.

Where are all the people? (Part 2)

Yesterday evening the weather was perfect as we were out for a half-hour walk.  We walk around our neighbourhood almost  daily so we have gone up and down these streets and back lanes many times.  To make the walk more interesting for me I decided to count the people I could see enjoying the lovely evening.  I decided not to count people who were walking between their car and a house or store because in my mind they were not really out enjoying the evening.  If I heard people but didn't see them, they didn't count.  Bicyclists, smokers, skateboarders, babies and cat-walkers all counted.  (We saw one cat-walker.)

Results:
1. At one point we walked 3 long city blocks without seeing anyone.
2.  By the end of the walk I had counted only 57 people.  That is less than one person every 30 seconds!

Where is everybody??

Getting Creative

Last night I sewed a hat out of some Lao fabric we had.

Not to be outdone, this morning Arthur sewed an iPad case out of what was left of the same piece of fabric.

Gearing Up For a Trip to Europe

We put together a model of Tower Bridge  to get us into the mood for our up-coming trip to London.
It didn't take us more than 90 min to snap out the pieces, follow the numbers and get it together.

And the finished product below.

We are planning to go to Holland, Switzerland, Germany, France and England for three weeks in August.

Where are all the people?

St. John's Park off of Main Street.  It was a gorgeous Friday evening, and hardly a soul in sight.

Look at all that emptiness.

Here's someone.
